Chris Crocker asks Rihanna, “Why?”

I could not agree more with this.

Seriously, this whole Rihanna/Chris Brown business is a complete shit show. I wish I could be blessed with the ignorance that most people apparently have and honestly feel and think “It’s in the past” and “Their over it, so I’m over it, it’s time to move on”, but alas I am not. As a human being I can’t help but feel disgusted and sad for the music industry when they have to warp a domestic abuse situation into a business opportunity, and then sell it to the human race. Like that shit’s okay!? No, on a human level it’s just wrong.

In my opinion, both the remixes come across as vapid, ignorant, and a sorry excuse for “artistry”. If Chris Brown didn’t consistently ignore addressing the incident that happened 3 years ago, and didn’t act like a irrational child whenever the topic came up, and didn’t keep making statements about how “It’s all about the music” and “Let the music speak for itself” when in actuality there isn’t much to his music, then maybe I would feel remorseful to his unfortunate “situation”. But until his endeavors don’t run flat, I’m going to need a bit more tangibility from his music to get over the fact that he literally beat the ever living shit out of another human being.

As for Rihanna, I really think Mr. Crocker says it best, “Instead of eating birthday cake honey, why don’t you eat your words”. You don’t have to be a poster child for domestic abuse and you don’t have to be a role model, but you can’t be ignorant enough to think that there aren’t people that look up to you and regard you as a role model nonetheless. If you’re going to be in an industry where you’re in the public eye practically 24/7 then you need to reevaluate your music and personal life, because whether you like it or not, people are going to be affected by your choices.

The whole thing is just so tragic. I understand that women go back to their abusers all the time(even though they’re “just” doing a song together), but why isn’t a close loved one saying “hey, Rihanna girl, this might not be the best idea.” It is just upsetting, I know her thinking is telling her it’s right but it’s so wrong and someone outside her circle needs to say something.
